New Recipe

WOW!
Was able to make an actual dinner last night that everyone enjoyed! Now, if you have children, spouse or just cook for others, you know how difficult it can be to cook and have the "eaters" enjoy the meal.  So, I made "Spasanga".  Yes, it's a variation of lasagna and spaghetti.  It was delicious. I was able to make it ahead and even have frozen it for the future.  Don't worry fellow friends and followers, the recipe follows:
BAKED SPASANGA
24 oz spaghetti
32 oz mozzarella cheese, grated (yes - 2 lb of cheese)
8 ounces ricotta cheese
8 ounces sour cream
1 1/4 cups half-and-half
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese , divided
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp salt
1 jar (26oz)spaghetti sauce
1 lb italian sausage or ground beef

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cook spaghetti according to package directions, drain.

In large bowl, stir together sour cream, ricotta, half-and-half, mozzarella, oregano, basil, pepper, garlic, salt, and half the Parmesan cheese. Add spaghetti and toss until well coated.

Pour spaghetti mixture into 9x13 pan lightly sprayed with cooking spray. Top spaghetti with remaining Parmesan cheese.

Cover dish aluminum foil and bake 30 minutes.

While pasta is baking, prepare meat sauce. Brown Italian sausage in skillet. Drain and return to skillet. Add spaghetti sauce and simmer.

Remove pasta from oven. Cut into squares and top with meat sauce

My goal for today will be to make a "new" recipe for pork chops that's made in the crock pot. Will let you know how it turns out tomorrow :-)

Well, off to get the house organized and then on to the kitchen for some baking!

Rainy day baking

Shout out to Octavia Spencer!!! Way to go!!!

Well, today is great day for baking! NOT. But it must be done. New recipes to try, cakes to make not too mention dinner for the family. It feels a bit weird writing about what I am making or baking but maybe it will inspire some to try new things. My recipes are usually not very difficult and most times all ingredients can be found in our local stores.  I like making things that one look good, if a photo is available, and two are easy to prepare. So if you are wondering, todays recipes include a German Chocolate Cake, some deliciously sinful, Ooey Gooey Butter Bars!  I know, I know, not a recipe for those on a diet but somebody has to do it! I'll take a picture when they are done.  For dinner, we are having Stir Fry! Yum Yum

Need to get to cooking so until later..............

Okay, here goes second blog! Well, was up late baking for several occasions, for which I am grateful! I truely enjoy baking for others!  Well, that is until the humidity attacks my cakes and makes them fall apart! UGH, moving on, second try on the cake and same results, oh well, they do make toothpicks. :-)

I hope to start posting pictures and recipes soon once I get the hang of this blogging stuff!

Happy Baking!
